Ocean FM
Broadcast & Production Intern
Industry: Radio & Broadcasting
Duration: Sept 2023 - Dec 2023
During my third year of university, I spent a semester interning at Ocean FM, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how a local radio station runs while also getting the chance to work on-air.
My time there involved a bit of everything - from organising guests and helping with the station's Sports Awards to recording news and sports bulletins and creating social content for station partners.
On Air
One of my favourite parts of the internship was getting the chance to record and present news and sports bulletins. It was definitely nerve-wracking at first, but it taught me how to get comfortable speaking clearly and confidently when there's no room for a second take!
Behind the Scenes
Away from the microphone, I helped with the day-to-day running of the station, including organising guests and helping coordinate the annual Sports Awards. I was also involved in creating social content for station partners such as Gallagher's Bakehouse and Martin Reilly Motors.
