Before moving into marketing, I spent several years working with AV Acoustics, helping deliver audiovisual and event production for conferences, awards ceremonies and corporate events.
It was a very different kind of work to my later marketing role, but it taught me a lot about working with clients, staying calm when things don't go to plan, and making sure everything is ready when the doors open.
What I did
Event setup & AV
Setting up and operating sound systems, staging and presentation equipment for live events.
Client contact
Working directly with clients on-site and making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible.
Problem solving
Troubleshooting technical issues in real time, usually with an audience waiting!
I also created a short reel for one of the events, which was a nice opportunity to bring a bit of social content into the event work.
